Need to lose tummy fat fast? Forget the fad "cookie diets" and "Hollywood cleanse" plans you've heard about in the tabloids and the news.
Burning fat is all about thermodynamics - that is, calories in versus calories out. If you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. Now burning calories doesn't necessarily mean exercise. You burn calories just by being alive! Then of course there's the walking and various activities you do in your day-to-day activities.

For every 3,500 calories you burn below your "maintenance level" (the level at which you consume exactly as many calories as your body burns), you lose one pound of fat. While that might not sound like much, a pound of fat is actually a little larger than a coffee mug - not bad!
You can also consider the macronutrient breakdown of the foods you eat. You see, proteins and carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram, whereas fat contains 9 calories per gram. Because of this, low to moderate fat intake can leave "room" in your diet for more foods.
Also, consider fiber-rich foods. Many people on diets actually do not consume enough fiber, which causes them to need to supplement. However if you stick to foods packed with fiber, you won't need to supplement.
Fiber helps to make you feel full, which will help keep you from eating too much. Fiber is actually a carbohydrate, but it just isn't digestible. So when you're calculating carbohydrates in a food, be sure to subtract fiber from "total carbohydrates."
And of course, be sure to speak with your physician before beginning any weight loss regimen.
